Finland- an exciting mixture of untouched nature and IT

The Republic of Finland is one of the Nordic Countries and a member of the European Union since 1995.

Finland has a population of about 5.3 million people spread over more than 330,000 square kilometres, making it one of the most sparsely populated countries in Europe. Finland is a country of thousands of lakes and forests and plenty of untouched nature.

A quarter of Finland’s territory lies above the Arctic Circle. During midsummer the sun does not set at all in the northern part of the country.

The NI2009 congress is held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. It has been said that Helsinki was born as a daughter of East and West, namely Sweden and Russia.

Finland is a perfect place for nursing informatics to meet! Engineering and high technology and manufacturing industries are important foundations of the Finnish economy. The main economic phenomenon of the last two decades has been the rise of the global telecommunications leader, Nokia, and the industrial cluster surrounding the IT business. The Finnish IT experts are well educated and used to working in global, multidisciplinary groups.
